Clarkstown Crash Results In DWI Charge For Suffern Man Driving Twice Legal Limit, Police Say

A crash has resulted in DWI charges for a Suffern man who was allegedly driving at twice the legal limit.

State Police responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash on I-87 in the town of Clarkstown on Sunday, Jan. 20 around 1:30 a.m. After investigating the scene, police discovered that a Toyota Corolla had run off the roadway. The driver, 30-year-old Juan C. Arteaga-Funes was uninjured but troopers determined he was intoxicated.

Arteaga-Funes was arrested, transported and processed at SP Tarrytown, where his BAC was marked at .19 percent. Arteaga-Funes was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (an unclassified misdemeanor) and several vehicle and traffic violations.

Arteaga-Funes was turned over to a sober third party, ticketed and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Clarkstown Court on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
